2008 Festival Dates in Deer Lake Park

The City of Burnaby has announced the dates for this year’s festivals taking place at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby’s majestic Deer Lake Park. The festivals offer interactive arts activities, live entertainment and an opportunity to participate in your local community. More details will follow as we move closer to each event date.


20th Annual Burnaby Rhododendron Festival

Highlights of Burnaby’s quaint, “green” festival include a variety of musical entertainment and interactive arts activities, site rovers, mini educational workshops, horticultural and nature tours and commercial plant sales. A silent auction, artisan and pottery sales are always crowd pleasing favourites at this fun filled family event!

Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Deer Lake Park

Showcasing the beauty of Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will perform its annual free summer outdoor concert. Come early, bring a picnic basket and settle in for a wonderful evening of symphonic music. This event is presented by the City of Burnaby and Kinder Morgan.

24th Annual Burnaby Discovery Day Festival

Burnaby’s largest community grass-roots festival showcases a variety of organizations involved in arts and culture, heritage, sports and leisure. Visitors of all ages will enjoy music, live theatre, street performances and interactive visual arts activities throughout the day.

The City of Burnaby, in association with Public Dreams Society, presents the Night of 2008 Lights Lantern Festival. In the tradition of Public Dreams' Illuminares event held each year at Trout Lake, a magical community lantern procession winds its way around Deer Lake Park. Led by African djembe drummers, participants encounter whimsical performances and magnificent illuminated lantern installations along the route. A spectacular fire show on the upper terrace concludes this magical evening.

12th Annual Seasonal Celebration

Join us for the 12th Annual Seasonal Celebration. This family event features music, dance and theatre, hands on family activities and the ever popular wreath-making workshop to celebrate this festive season.



The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Deer Lake Park are centrally located in the heart of Burnaby, just minutes from Vancouver, New Westminster and the North Shore. Travel along the Trans-Canada Highway to the Kensington South exit to Canada Way. The Centre is located just behind Burnaby City Hall on Deer Lake Avenue.
