BURNABY BLUES
+ ROOTS FESTIVAL
STAGES:
The site features
two stages; the LAKE STAGE at the south end of
the site and the GARDEN STAGE on the west side.
GATES:
Main Gate - open
1:00-9:00pm.
West Gate – open 1:00-6:00pm. After 6pm, patrons
will have to proceed east to the Main Gate.
There will
be two gates to the festival, both feeding from
Deer Lake Ave. The Main Gate is located on the
northeast side of the Shadbolt Centre. This gate
will be open to patrons holding tickets, those
purchasing tickets at the Box Office subject to
availability and those picking up tickets at Will
Call. The West Gate is located on the northwest
side of the Shadbolt Centre and is restricted
to ticket holders. Pedestrians may access the
West Gate via the Burnaby Art Gallery parking
lot (up the hill to the west of Shadbolt Centre
for the Arts).
WILL CALL:
Tickets purchased online or by phone can be picked
up in advance at the Shadbolt Centre Box Office.
You must produce the credit card used to purchase
the ticket(s) and photo ID. If you don’t have
a chance to pick up your tickets in advance they
will be located at the Will Call table at the
Main Gate. On festival day, the Box Office and
Will Call area will be open from 11:30 am – 9:00
pm .
WEATHER:
This is an outdoor venue - please be prepared
for the weather as the festival will take place
rain or shine. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen
are advised. You can check on forecasts at Environment
Canada - www.weatheroffice.gc.ca
SEATING:
Chairs are permitted. In consideration of fellow
patrons, legless chairs or those with low backs
and short legs are preferred and very much appreciated.
Deer Lake Park is a general admission lawn seating
environment and there are no reserved seats. Please
be aware that many people in our audience enjoy
dancing.
SPECIAL NEEDS
SEATING:
If you have a physical disability or are mobility
challenged, a small special needs seating area
will be available on site – please contact the
Shadbolt Centre Box Office at 604-205-3000 and
they will make arrangements for you to access
this area. A wheelchair access portable washroom
will be situated close by.
FESTIVAL FOOD
& BEVERAGE:
There will be a variety of food and beverage options
available for purchase. You may also bring your
own food and non-alcoholic beverage. (See Gate
Guidelines). Please be advised that the festival
site is licensed for alcohol consumption and anyone
purchasing or consuming alcohol must be 19 years
of age or older and will require a DAV (drinking
age verification) wristband. These wristbands
will be available at the identification tent by
the alcohol service area on site. Two pieces of
identification will be required to obtain this
wristband; one primary government issued piece
of I.D. (driver’s license, passport) must include
a photo. NOTE: No cans will be permitted into
the festival site.
WATER: Blue banners will mark the location of
drinking water troughs. (one on each side). The
Metro Vancouver Water Wagon will also be situated
on site. Bring your own empty plastic water bottle
to refill. Only COMMERCIALLY sealed plastic bottles
of non alcoholic beverage will be permitted into
the site.
WASHROOMS: Only portable washrooms will be available
and their general location will be marked with
orange banners. The Shadbolt Centre will be CLOSED
on festival day.
PUBLIC PAY
PHONE:
One pay phone located at the Main Gate.
ATM:
ATMs will be located on Spirit Square (south side
of Shadbolt building)
"ART'S
HOME"
A children’s arts activity zone led by Shadbolt
Centre art instructors will be open from 3:30
pm to 7:30pm. Children must be supervised by parent/guardian
at all times. Thank you for keeping this area
an alcohol and smoke free zone.
SMOKING ZONE:
In consideration of your fellow festival goers,
it would be greatly appreciated if smoking is
restricted to the designated smoking area on west
side of the site. IN THE EVENT OF A REGIONAL SMOKING
BAN, SIGNAGE WILL BE PLACED AT THE GATES AND ON
THE WEBSITE.

• CHAIRS ARE PERMITTED – LOW BACKS RECOMMENDED
• COOLERS AND FOOD ITEMS ARE PERMITTED
• NO MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
• NO GLASS CONTAINERS OR CANS
• NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS (DEFINED AS THOSE WITH
INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES) OR AUDIO-VIDEO RECORDING
EQUIPMENT
• NO UMBRELLAS
• NO TENTS OR TARPS
• NO BANNERS
• NO FRISBEES OR THROWING OBJECTS
• NO KNIVES OR NO WEAPONS
• NO LASER POINTERS
• ONLY WORKING DOGS PERMITTED ON SITE
• COMMERCIALLY SEALED PLASTIC BOTTLES OF NON-ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGE OR EMPTY PLASTSIC BOTTLES WILL BE PERMITTED
(UP TO ONE LITRE IN SIZE)
• NO BARBEQUES OR FIRES PERMITTED

NOTE THAT ALL ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH AT THE
GATE. IN THE EVENT YOU CHOOSE TO REFUSE A SEARCH,
YOU WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO THE SITE.

LIVE NATION
CONCERTS
First Aid:
Designated First Aid tents are located on both
the east and west sides of the site.
People with
Disabilities:
A designated seating area for any patrons requiring
wheelchair, ADA or special seating consideration
will be located on site.
Please contact Live Nation at 604-683-4233 or
angelabonifacio@livenation.com with your ticket
order confirmation number if you require special
seating arrangements.
Food and Beverages:
A variety of food and beverage options will be
available on site.
Outside food and beverages, aside from personal
reusable bottles with water, are not permitted
on site.
There will be free water station on the concert
site where concert goers will be able to refill
their bottles.
Alcoholic Beverages:
Alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the
on site beer garden, located at the north end
of the park near Shadbolt Centre.
Only 2 drinks can be served per person at one
time.
As required by law, ANYONE appearing under 40
years of age will be asked to produce 2 pieces
of Government Issued ID.
ID Must have name, date of birth, photo and signature
DAV (Drinking Age Verified) wristbands are available
upon arrival, and at the point of purchase for
drink tickets.
DAV wristbands must be worn by anyone consuming
alcohol.
ATM-Bank Machines:
Two (2) ATM units will be located on site.
